Many of our teachers use blogs like Nice Net as a tool to teach curriculum. Would they be able to use Drupal blog with classes? It seems to me that Drupal would allow for tighter control?

PostHeaderIcon Blogs as a curriculum tool

I am not sure how teachers use Nice Net, so I am not sure if it is set up the same way as blogs on this site are set up. When I did a search for "Nice Net" I found all kinds of sites with that name. "Nicenet.com" is a dating site - with pop-ups! There are no pop-ups or ads on this site. There is no cost to Camas School District employees and there is a huge potential for growth in the future.

Right now, teachers can use a blog to link to other sites, post downloadable files and pictures. You could post daily class information that the blogger wants parents to see. Forget the weekly email that goes out to all parents, just send them the link and post the information in a blog. Once you have sent out the email and you find something is incorrect or changed in the email you sent out, you would have to resend the email with the correction. If it is a blog posting, you change it in the post. That way, maybe only a few people see the mistake before you change it. I am sure others can come up with ideas how a blog can function for them. Post your ideas.

If you are looking for something that serves online curriculum, you might want to investigate Moodle.
